Acne Lesion

People with acne often have a range of lesions. The simplest acne lesion, known as comedo, or comedone, is basically an extended hair follicle sealed with bacteria and oil. This kind of lesion is frequently called a microcomedo since the naked eye may not see it.  It's called a closed whitehead or comedo when the plugged follicle remains under the skin. Whiteheads often show on the surface of skin as little, whitish bumps. A comedo that comes up to the skin surface and breaks open is referred to as a blackhead since it appears black. The black color is not because of dirt. Whiteheads and blackheads can remain for a long time in the skin.

There are other bothersome acne lesions which can grow, such as the ones below:

Nodules: is a big, painful, and solid lesions which are buried deeply inside the skin.

Papules: are inflamed lesions which show up as little, pink bumps on the skin; they may be sensitive to the touch.

Pustules: are pus-laden, inflamed lesions which may be red at the root.

Cysts: are inflamed, deep, pus-laden lesions which may provoke pain and scarring.
